July Runner Ups

I can not believe it's already August. Zoom, this summer is flying by. Here are the runner ups from the month of July.

205/365

Today was eat out day, which is always fun, yet, risky because there's always a high chance that you two will forget how to behave at a restaurant. But it's less about having perfectly behaved children and more about just doing something special together and enjoying ourselves. Today we went to Applebee's and between crayons being thrown under the table, Cora's diaper leaking on the seat, repeating "sit down please," about a million times, it was a pretty typical slightly wild, slightly obnoxious dinner out. So when the cute older couple that finished their meal at the table next to us leaned over and said "It's so nice to see such well behaved children." your daddy and I both bust up laughing.

Sometimes you just get bored of painting on paper. So today we found a new canvas to decorate.

You wouldn't admit it but it was nap time.
Today was my birthday. It was a wonderful day. I got to sleep in, have a nice breakfast with you and Cora, Daddy got off early from work, we played board games all afternoon and then Daddy took me out to dinner and a movie. And while we played sorry, you had lots of opportunities to bump my piece back home and you'd look at me and then either bump daddies instead or make a different move, and you'd say "cause it's your birthday." Awww.. thanks buddy.

A Popsicle on a hot hot day. All a girl needs. And a diaper. But that's it.
When you and your cousin, Gabe got bored of the swimming pool, we brought out the life jackets and all the sudden it was fun again.

201/365

Like most parents of a toddler, I get worried when it gets quiet, but this time, I found you sitting quietly reading a book. Who are you?
I've found that the women accessories department at the store entertains you two more than any other area. The mirrors on the glasses case, the jewelry, the watches, you love looking at it all, but don't beg me to buy everything, like the toy isle.

200/365

My 200th day, and I didn't photograph my children. I photographed a wedding. I am in my busiest weeks of wedding season so I'm giving myself grace to have missed a day or two.

Dinner time seems to be such a mixed bag for you. You love it and you hate it. You love all being together, you like eating most things, but when there is something that we want you to eat, like grilled Zucchini and you're not having it, Dinner time seizes to be fun. For you and for us both.
Teasing the dog with skittles. I took a picture, and then told you to stop.

To the end of the dock! With Auntie Carley! We went kayaking today and you absolutely loved it, saying over and over, "It's fun to ride in a boat!" We floated down river and had a great time. I was too scared to bring my camera in the boat so I took a few as we were loading and unloading.
You were showing your sister some sort of bug you'd found on the dock as Mom and Dad loaded up the boats. I love the way you want to share your discoveries with her.

It was dumping down rain today, and I decided to treat the kids while we were out running errands by stopping in to grab lunch at the McDonalds with a playplace. And as we were ordering we noticed that Abby and Gabe were there having lunch too! What a fun surprise! We got to have lunch with them and then play in the playplace together. You followed Abby all around and kept saying "I got my Abby!"
Listening intently as Daddy reads the bedtime story.

We removed the middle seat in the van which now allows you to zip past your car seat, and hang out beyond my reach in the back seat. And since I can't reach you and you're not budging, well I guess I'll take your picture.
You asked if you could play with the big apple box we brought home from Costco. I said sure, and when I came into the living room a few minutes later, this is what I found. A lil nest with three lil baby birds reclining inside.

 Hot dog munchin' at Costco.
Oh the hours upon hours of play time these trains have seen.

You and daddy were blowing in each others faces and then cracking up. Gotta love the games your daddy comes up with.
Usually when if I sneak into your room while you're sleeping, I look at you and you look like a sweet little innocent child.  But recently, you don't look so little anymore. You look so big and so grown up and so much a totally different kid than that little baby you were even just last year. And in some ways it makes me a little sad that those days are over, but even more so I'm proud and excited for who you're becoming and all the new adventures and things we'll learn with you. You'll be a second grader this year. Holy moly.

We've been heading to Tutu's pool a lot these days. And you've really learned how to relax.
Your attempts to hide from the camera actually create a cool look every once in a while.

Lazy mornings. I was up early and heading out for a long wedding day, but I snapped these before I took off.

You love to mix the juice. I love to watch you mix the juice.
I love hearing your Lego creation explanations.

This bucket of corn kernels and Tupperware container to sort them in have bought me so much time. You will scoop and sort and scoop and sort for so long, it's wonderful. Yes, about 25% of the kernels end of up on the floor but it's totally worth it.
Legos with Diego. Good times with good friends.

You cover your eyes and count to ten, while I hide behind the door of your bedroom. You come running down the hall and say "Mommy, where are you?" I'm quiet and it takes you a couple of minutes to find me. Then when it's my turn to count and find you, I hear "I'm in Logan's room, mommy!"
You and your sister can switch from being at each others throats to playing "Logan is a Bridge" so quickly. Luckily I can grab my camera quickly too.

I'm not sure who walks who.
Enjoying one of your favorite treats, a fruit smoothie from Birdie's Bistro.

187/365

You always want your brother to join you in the bath. You say "I anna take a bath. And Logan too!"
Ahh Pogo. Some days you love him and play with him non-stop and want him to sleep in your bed with you. Other days, you are not so thrilled by him chewing on your socks, or your legos or getting in your space on the couch. But it is always fun to see how high he'll jump for a treat.

After a hot day at home, Daddy suggested we head over to Grandma's house and use her pool while she's out of town. We picked up a pizza and had ourselves a lil pizza pool party. It was awesome.

Peanut butter on cracker has become your favorite bedtime snack.
You paired up with Anna for settlers of Catan. You did great!
