April Runner Ups

Another month down. Amazing. So far in this project I have not missed a day(other than the week I was gone on vacation, which I'm just not counting). There have been days when I desperately snapped a shot right before tucking the kids into bed, and other days when something gorgeous and beautiful happened first thing in the morning. Choosing a photo some days was obvious and other days I could hardly narrow it down to top 3. So here are all the top 2's and 3's etc from the month of April.

Today was a great, hot and sunny day and washing the cars seemed like the perfect activity, plus they were pretty grimey and needed it. You were timid at first but then you wanted more bubbles, more bubbles! You kept saying "We washin daddy's car! It clean and shiny!"
There is no doing things half way for you. I love your eye for detail and your pursuit of excellence (which is borderline OCD at times). You had to climb onto the top of the van to make sure you could scrub all the dirt off.

We spent the sunny morning out in the back yard, digging for worms. You liked looking at them but when I tried putting one in your hand you said "I don't like that!"
You ask me almost every single day after school if you have a "Play Date" with your lil best bud, Diego. And today you got your wish. You two are so silly together and have so much fun.

Anything your brother can do, you want to do to, anything he can do, you will try too. Yes, you will, yes you will, yes, you will! Luckily you have your Daddy to help you along the way.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you are so very sweet to your younger sister. I love that helping her brings you joy. You are so proud of her when she does something new and your heart for her keeps growing and growing.

You were in your room chatting up a storm to no one while you were supposed to be napping today when I remembered that the Agriculture Festival was this weekend. I decided since you weren't napping anyway and the sun was shining, that I'd throw you both in the car and head over for some fun on the farm. You were so very excited and tickled by all the animals, wanting to pet them and see them and saying "I love this." when you found a soft cute one. I thought for sure you'd be at least a little intimidated by the big horses and cows, but you weren't at all, getting right in there and reaching for their fuzzy faces.
They had a big fire engine parked with all the compartments and doors open so we could see all the cool gear and you were all over it. After we'd climbed around inside and were about to head out, you said "One of the firemen hang off the back like this!"

Bubbles! We were having a lil play date with some other two year old's and another mom brought out the bubbles. You were not nearly as interested in chasing after them as they blew away in the wind as you were in  "Do it myself?"
All on your own, after I'd wrapped you both in the towels after a bath, you both climbed up into my bed and were singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to each other and cracking up non-stop. You two are becoming such great lil play mates and friends and I just adore watching it happen.

Enjoy the freshly mowed grass and the spring sunshine.
Our lawn mower has recently decided that it is no longer a self propelled lawn mower and requires a good deal of force to keep moving, so you gave your Dad a hand.

You are daddy's girl and you love snuggling with him. I think you thought I was going to make you move because you gave me a glare like, this is MY daddy!
Hunting for Waldo before bed. I am always impressed with your eye when you look at these complicated pictures and by the things you notice that never would.

We had big plans to head up to the zoo today, but the April showers (downpour) forced us to have a different kind of day; projects around the house, reading, naps and then bowling before dinner. It was still a lovely day. And you were adorable at the bowling alley, clapping almost every single time someone knocked over a pin and trying to carry a 6 lb ball.
With the help of the ramp and bumpers, you sir, scored your first strike. Way to go buddy!

Sometimes when you drive past a big field of little flowers you have to stop and smell them.
I introduced you to Jenga tonight and you were so good at it! I was amazed at how high we go it!

You love helping make juice. "I do it, Mommy! I do it!"
Each time, you climb higher and higher. I love watching your confidence grow higher and higher too.

Tickling your sister while you pose for a picture. So precious.

This is your great-grandfather, who we call Puzzy. I am so so so very glad you are growing up with him so close and getting loved on by him. He is a legend.
And you're off, to hunt (more like gather) Easter eggs. You were so sweet and picked out two of your eggs to share with your sister. You're so so sweet.

You LOVE to paint. You ask to paint at least three times a day. And I love it, even though it means most of the time you have some sort of primary colored smear on your hands, arms or face.
We planted our first vegetable garden today and it was so fun to do with you and I can't wait till we start seeing the seeds grow. You were so great showing your sister where to dig and defending the areas where we'd already planted seeds against her destructive shovel.

Hiding under the chair because it was time to get dressed. oh the life of a toddler.
Oh yeah, first backyard hot dog roasting over the fire of the season. You said as you sat there, the heat from the fire made you feel like you were in the bathtub. It's mesmerizing isn't it?

You spilled your juice on the couch. I got you a paper towel to wipe it up and you said "I make it all better mommy!"
Oh man, I took you to Junior fit today, and I've never seen your face so red! You ran and jumped and climbed and rolled and bounced for an hour straight and loved every second of it. I love how as a kid exercise is just having fun.

You found the lil camera on my key chain and said "Me taka your piture mommy!!" and told me where to stand and then squatted down in the hallway. I wasn't sure why you chose that place and then remembered you're probably remembering all the times I did that exact thing for all these pictures.
Yep, this is the only photo I took of you today. Impressive huh? Oh well, at least I took one. You were enamored with the fish and ready to pick out about 25 if you could.

Run free lil one. Run thru the grass and laugh and make goofy sounds and enjoy life.
Somehow, me saying "Let me take a picture of you and your sister," means "pick her up and give me a cheesy smile."
